After two years of the Covid-19 pandemic which ruined the New Year's Eve party, nightclubs in France are preparing to meet their customers to celebrate the transition to the year 2023. This is the case in a nightclub from downtown Lyon, where officials are making final preparations.

At the Loft Club, located in the city center of Lyon, everything is ready to welcome nearly 1,200 people during New Year's Eve.

An event eagerly awaited by revelers, and even more since it has been two years since the nightclubs celebrated the New Year with their customers.

Europe 1 met the team of this nightclub, already in the starting blocks.

Manager of the bar, Eva is delighted to be able to party on a New Year's Day evening after the Covid years.

"We are happy to come to this and to be able to do it this year, because it is an environment that has not been very listened to", she regrets.

Two countdowns to better celebrate

"We find ourselves overnight with nothing, with a lot of students doing this job. It's complicated on the financial side but also, we can't practice the job we love", she underlines at the microphone from Europe 1. And she is not the only one looking forward to this night.

The resident DJ, Jérémy, is also looking forward to Saturday night.

He has planned two countdowns to better celebrate.

"We will do one at midnight and surely a second around 2 a.m.," he explains.

"We will capture people's attention and we will explode together for this new year", he promises enthusiastically.

"New Year's Eve, one of the biggest nights of the year, people go out to party, it's awesome!"

The essentials planned on the track

Frédéric, the room manager of the Loft Club, is fine-tuning the final details to welcome customers on Saturday evening.

Everything has been planned and rehearsed, and some essentials are of course planned on the track.

"We may be distributing small bow ties, confetti, lots of things like that. We let go of the horses!", He says at the microphone of Europe 1.

The night will end with breakfast provided by Le Loft: croissants, hot drinks and then for some, onion soup.
