The Prefecture of Police has unveiled the security device planned for this festive weekend.

5,400 police and gendarmes will be deployed throughout the capital and its inner suburbs and specific measures will apply to the Champs-Élysées sector, where many festivities are organized after two years of absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Who says December 31, says fireworks on the Champs-Élysées!

After two editions canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festivities in this sector of the capital are back.

The Prefecture of Police has unveiled the security device planned for this weekend.

In addition to deploying 5,400 police and gendarmes throughout the city and its inner suburbs, specific measures will apply to the Champs-Élysées sector.

Alcohol consumption prohibited until Monday 8 a.m.

The prefecture announces in this sector a "visible and dissuasive presence" of the police forces.

A perimeter will be set up to filter entries and carry out bag checks.

All objects that can be used as weapons or projectiles will be prohibited, including glass bottles.

In addition, the take-out sale and the consumption of alcohol on the public highway will be prohibited throughout this area until Monday 8 a.m.

Finally, several RER and metro stations will be closed in the evening, from 5 p.m. for that of Charles de Gaulle - Étoile and 6 p.m. for those of Champs-Élysées.

90,000 police and gendarmes deployed in France

On the rest of the territory, the mobilization of the police will also be important: more than 90,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed.

The Ministry of the Interior recalls a high level of the terrorist threat.

Gérald Darmanin, traveling to Mayotte, will keep himself informed of the situation, but firm instructions have already been given to all the prefects, including those to challenge all the troublemakers, without exception.
