Charles III bestows royal honors on more than a thousand dignitaries, including a guitarist

On Friday, King Charles III granted a group of royal decorations, which are usually bestowed on the occasion of the New Year, to about a thousand personalities, most notably the guitarist in the "Queen" band Brian May.

In 2002, May played the national anthem "God Save the Queen" on the roof of Buckingham Palace to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Elizabeth II's accession to the British throne.

In 2005, the Queen awarded him a knighthood.

Over the past year, May played for the 70th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne in June, and received a new honor for his "musical work and charitable giving".

The 75-year-old musician, an astrophysicist and animal rights activist confirmed, in an interview with the Press Association, that he had the rank of "Juvenile Knight" ("Knight Batcheler"), as a kind of authorization "to do the things expected of the holder of this title." , which is "the struggle for justice and amplifying the voices of all the weak."

On the other hand, the artist Grayson Perry, who won the prestigious "Turner Prize" in 2003, received the rank of knight, while the fashion designer Mary Quant, who is credited with spreading the fashion of the short skirt, received the Medal of Honor.

The 92-year-old fashion designer was awarded the title of "Dame" in the British Honor in 1966, and in 2015 she received a new honor.

Also, British journalist Catherine Bilton, who faced a series of lawsuits over her book about people close to Vladimir Putin, was rewarded for her journalism work.

British actor Stephen Graham, who currently plays Matilda's father in a work adapted from a novel by Roald Dahl and shown on Netflix, was honored.

In the sports field, the heptathlon champion at the 2000 Olympics, Denise Louis, was honored.

In total, 1,107 people were rewarded, including 548 women, in a list signed for the first time by King Charles III.

These royal privileges are bestowed twice a year, the first on the occasion of ushering in a new year and the second during the King's official birthday which is usually celebrated in June separately from his actual date of birth (November 14, 1948 for Charles III).
