Two municipalities with a total ban - then fireworks can be set off in Västmanland

See what applies to shooting fireworks on New Year's Eve 2022 in your municipality. The rules differ depending on what the politicians have decided in the local ordinances.

Västerås

A police permit is not needed during the following times: from 8:00 p.m. New Year's Eve to 1:00 a.m. on New Year's Day.

Hall

Fireworks of a larger scale in a densely built-up area require permission from the police.

Buying

A police permit is required to use pyrotechnic goods within built-up areas, however, with the exception of Walborg Fair and New Year's Eve from 3:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. the following day.

It is forbidden to use pyrotechnic goods closer than 200 meters from Västmanland Hospital Köping.

Kungsör

Permission from the police is required to use pyrotechnic goods in Kungsör municipality.

There is no exception.

Arboga

For the use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic goods in densely built-up areas, permission from the police is required.

Exceptions apply for New Year's Eve and the eve of Walpurgis fair from 18.00 until 01.00 the following day.

Hallsta hammers

Permission from the police authority is required to use pyrotechnic goods within the urban area.

The exception is New Year's Eve and night between 9:00 p.m. and 01:00 a.m.

Sura hammer

In the municipality of Surahammar, there are exceptions to the permit requirement for New Year's Eve when pyrotechnic goods may be used from 3:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. the following day.

Norberg

You as a private person may use fireworks without a permit on New Year's Eve from 8:00 p.m. until New Year's Day at 2:00 a.m.

Make sure the fireworks are not damaged, keep a safe distance and be careful when approaching fireworks that are not working.

Fairest

Fagersta municipality's local regulations regarding permits for fireworks state that on New Year's Eve no permit is required from 10:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 2:00 a.m. the following day (New Year's Day).

Nothing in local regulations about needing a permit for fireworks on New Year's Eve.

But the municipality has previously issued information that you should preferably stay around twelve o'clock if you are going to set off fireworks.
