After the United States, it's Canada's turn to face winter storm Elliott.

Snowfall, strong winds and extreme cold: the weather conditions went so far as to freeze an entire neighborhood in ice, reports BFMTV.

It was when the blizzard dissipated over the city of Fort Erie, Ontario, that residents of the Crystal Beach district discovered the astonishing phenomenon.

The whole area was frozen in ice.

From the roofs of the houses to the road, the storm spared nothing.

A video of the scene has already amassed over 2 million views on Twitter.

A deadly “cyclone bomb”

The phenomenon is partly due to the presence of a lake in the town, which was shaken by strong winds.

"The waves were coming over the wall, they were probably three or five meters high," a Fort Erie resident told CTV News Toronto.

The polar cold immediately froze the water on the facades, covering the houses with a thick white coat.

Storm Elliott is partly caused by a "cyclone bomb", a phenomenon that occurs when a mass of cold air is superimposed on a mass of warm air.

Bodies of water like Lake Erie are particularly vulnerable areas to this climatic phenomenon, as the air above the water is naturally warmer.

This type of phenomenon is quite rare and, as we can see, spectacular.

It is no less dangerous.

Across Lake Erie, in the city of Buffalo, at least 31 people lost their lives in the "Blizzard of the Century."

The United States currently counts at least sixty deaths after the passage of the storm.
