In Sweden, general regulations apply that you must be 18 years old to be allowed to buy, sell and use fireworks.

But the state of how and where you can shoot varies.

Many municipalities have local regulations and set their own rules about when and where fireworks can be set off.

Information that fire chief Håkan Eriksson does not think has been disclosed to the public.

- No I do not think so.

I'm also not completely sure what applies.

I didn't even think I could hit anymore, but apparently you get that, says Håkan Eriksson.

Since 2019, you also have to have a permit and special training to shoot rockets with a joystick.

According to MSB, a permit is usually not needed to set off fireworks on New Year's, but in urban areas, for example, it may be needed even then.

If you are unsure whether a permit is needed where you live, you can contact the municipality or the police.
