"Today, President Joseph R. Biden granted full pardons to six individuals," the White House said in a statement.

The other five were convicted of minor drug offenses.

RIA Novosti clarifies that one of those pardoned is 80-year-old Beverly Ann Ibn-Tamas.

When she was 33 years old, she was pregnant and shot her husband, who beat her.

The woman was then sentenced to imprisonment for a term of one to five years, but it is not specified how long she spent in prison.

Earlier, American businessman Elon Musk published a poll on his microblog whether the US authorities should pardon WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and former US intelligence officer Edward Snowden.
