Good evening,

Department head of the Rhein-Main editorial team of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Don't shoot:

Do fireworks belong to you on New Year's Eve like white bread goes with cheese fondue?

Do firecrackers and sparkles make the transition into the new year really nice, or is that outdated?

There are different opinions in the editorial office.

The city of Frankfurt has clearly decreed that the firing of rockets and smaller pyrotechnics must be limited to one's own front yard or the residential street in front of the house.

Popular public places like the Eiserner Steg are fireworks ban zones, nobody is allowed to burn anything there or let it rise into the sky.

The general decree of the city of Frankfurt, which prescribes this, also includes places near churches, hospitals, children's and old people's homes as well as particularly fire-sensitive buildings or facilities.

The ban thus applies to large parts of the city center.

This is not viewed so strictly everywhere in the region, as Katharina Iskandar reports.

Room for ideas:

what can be done to counteract vacancies in inner cities where retail is coming under more and more pressure?

The municipalities have to fight against the threatening wasteland.

Offenbach has set up a program for this called "Ground Floor".

Between the summer of 2020 and the end of 2022, this funded the establishment of new shops, workshops, bars and studios on the ground floor, as well as investments in existing shop concepts in two districts of Offenbach: in the Senefeld district and in the north end, which is located between the Main Harbor and the city center.

The money for this comes from a grant funded by the European Union;

the payout was linked to the financial participation of those who sought funds.

Alexander Jürgs describes what came of this and what is happening in other towns in the region.

Growing old together

: So check who is bound forever...

If the statistics are correct, the divorce rate of marriages in Germany was around 39.9 percent last year.

This means one divorce for every three marriages.

My colleague Sarah Obertreis didn't ask Erika and Kurt Breitenbach how they felt about it.

But after how they got to know each other.

And how they manage to stay together and married for 65 years.

One of the answers revolves around arguing and its limited meaning, because "You can't turn different opinions around".

, says Kurt Breitenbach.

You can read the conversation about the secret of this good marriage and about stability in turbulent times this weekend in the Rhein-Main edition of the FAZ Sunday newspaper.

And

in addition, on Thursday in Neu-Isenburg

, a car and an ambulance collided

, the driver of the car and the crew of the ambulance were injured, nothing was initially known about the patient being transported

The tip for the weekend

The elegant "French Bento Bar" in Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel combines classic bar culture with French and Japanese inspirations.

The "Signature" cocktails by head barman Michael Nagy shouldn't just be enjoyed by the guests of the Ameron Hotel, because they are of impressive quality and show great creativity.

Nagy and his team play with both French and Japanese influences, but of course also mix standards of all kinds and basically fulfill every wish.
