Today, Thursday, tribal clashes renewed in the Darfur region, western Sudan, and led to the death of a displaced person in a camp in the city of Zalingei, and the authorities pledged again to contain the violence and bring those involved to justice.

The spokesman for the General Coordination of Displaced and Refugees in Darfur, Adam Rujal, confirmed the renewed attack by armed militias on Al-Hamidiya camp for the displaced in Zalingei, the center of Central Darfur state this morning, which resulted in the death of a displaced person, bringing the death toll to 8, in addition to the injury of 11 people.

The spokesman warned of large crowds that are expected to carry out new attacks on the displaced in the camp.

Witnesses reported that the clashes erupted late Wednesday night after a man from the African Fur tribe was killed in a dispute with a member of the Arab Rizeigat tribe in Zalingei.

Later, members of the Rizeigat tribe on motorbikes attacked members of the Fur tribe living in the camp.

For its part, the Sudanese Human Rights Commission called for immediate measures to be taken to prevent renewed violence, open an independent investigation and bring those involved to justice.

And the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahid Nour, held what it described as the coup government and its militias fully responsible for the "systematic violations" in Darfur.

The Sudanese Rapid Support Forces media said that the deputy head of the Sovereignty Council and commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hamedti), expressed his regret over the tribal confrontations that took place in Nyala, the center of South Darfur state, pledging to bring those involved to justice.

Hamidti went to the city of Nyala, accompanied by military leaders, to find out about the security events that took place in the region.

Last week, Belil locality in South Darfur state witnessed tribal violence, killing 12 people, wounding more than 40, and displacing 15,000, according to local sources.

Earlier this week, the Sudanese Sovereignty Council announced its intention to impose peace in the state of South Darfur by deploying military reinforcements, and the Security Committee of the state of South Darfur sent reinforcements to resolve the bloody clashes.

Official sources said a few days ago that the security situation had stabilized after the deployment of army and police vehicles, but it exploded again later.

The frequency of tribal conflicts increased after the military component took control of power, as tribal conflicts resulted in the deaths of more than 900 people, the injury of a thousand, and the displacement of about 300,000 this year, according to a recent report issued by the United Nations.
