In the past, fireworks were set off wildly when municipalities celebrated the new year.

But those are different times and in Eksjö the municipality chooses to offer a fire show instead of fireworks when the new year is celebrated in Stora Torget at midnight.

There will also be musical entertainment and New Year's speeches.

For those who want to launch their own rockets, there is a lot to think about.

The municipality has expanded the area in central Eksjö where it is completely forbidden to fire your own rockets.

Celebration in Rådhusparken

In Jönköping, the new year is celebrated in Rådhusparken on New Year's Day.

At 16.00 the celebration begins with dance and musical entertainment by the cultural school, as well as New Year's speeches.

The festivities end with a musical fireworks display.

It is a somewhat quieter fireworks display where the pieces are launched lower and accompanied by music.

The budget for the fireworks offered by the municipality is SEK 150,000.

Different rules in the municipalities

The rules for when you can set off fireworks look a little different in different municipalities.

In Mullsjö, for example, you can shoot from 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 3 a.m. on New Year's Day.

In Värnamo, it is between 17.00 and 02.00 that applies.

Check what applies in your municipality.
