Russian missiles hit the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and several cities across the country - today, Thursday - in a new wave of missile attacks. On the other hand, Moscow announced the interception of a Ukrainian march near the Engels Air Base, while Belarus summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to it to protest against the fall of a Ukrainian missile on its soil.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, the capital and other provinces were subjected to a new wave of Russian bombardment with 120 missiles that targeted vital installations and civilian areas, and led to widespread power outages.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that the country is under attack from various directions with cruise missiles from the air and sea, from strategic planes and ships.

And the mayors of Kyiv and Lviv (west) and Kharkiv (east) announced that Russian missiles hit the three cities, causing a series of explosions.

For its part, the Ukrainian General Staff said that today, the air defenses shot down 54 Russian missiles out of 69 that targeted the country's territory.

In turn, Presidential Adviser Oleksiy Aristovich predicted - on his Facebook page - a second and possibly a third wave of Russian missile attacks on the country.

For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba described the recent Russian missile strikes on his country during the day as "barbaric and meaningless."

Power outage

For his part, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said that the electricity supply was cut off from 40% of the capital due to the Russian strikes on the infrastructure.

Klitschko urged residents to prepare for such an outage, calling on them to charge their phones and stock up on water.

The mayor of Kyiv stated that preliminary information indicated that the Ukrainian defenses shot down 16 missiles fired at the capital, and said that shrapnel from one of the missiles hit 3 civilians and two houses, calling on residents to stay in shelters.

In Lviv, the authorities said that the Russian bombing led to a power outage in 90% of the territory of the province.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Railways said that the movement of trains was delayed on many lines as a result of the power outage.

Over the past months, Russia has launched several waves of missile strikes on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, causing widespread blackouts.

Mutual bombardment

On the ground, the Ukrainian General Staff announced that 230 Russian soldiers were wounded in the fighting axes in Zaporizhia (south), stressing that the bombing destroyed a Russian command center, another communications center and a number of military equipment.

The Ukrainian General Staff added that the Air Force carried out 17 raids on the positions of the Russian forces, and 4 raids on the sites of missile systems, in addition to destroying 5 Russian control points on more than one front.

In Donetsk (east), the pro-Russian local authorities reported that a woman was killed and 3 civilians were injured as a result of the continuous Ukrainian shelling of residential neighborhoods in the district.

The local authorities added that the Ukrainian forces bombed the canton about 50 times within 24 hours, and that the shelling affected 6 residential neighborhoods that were targeted with about 300 shells, causing material damage.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that it had destroyed an American Himars missile launcher in Donetsk, and had shot down two Ukrainian Sukhoi fighters and two helicopters in the same province.

Ukrainian raids

In Russia, Roman Busargin, Governor of Saratov Province, announced that air defenses shot down a drone in the Engels area, where the air base that was attacked a few days ago by drones is located.

Busargin indicated that material damage occurred in residential homes and some private properties as a result of the shrapnel falling from this march, without causing any casualties.

This is the third incident - within a month - targeting the vicinity of this Russian air base, which is known to include strategic bombers and devices designed to strike high-importance targets.

And last Monday, the Engels Air Force Base near Moscow was targeted by a drone attack that killed 3 military personnel.

On December 5, Moscow accused Ukraine of launching drone attacks on the Engels base and another base in the Ryazan region, southeast of the Russian capital.

In the same context, Russian media published pictures that they said showed the air defenses responding to the bombing of Belgorod this morning, without specifying its source or targets.

Belarusian anger

In turn, Reuters reported that Belarus had summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to protest the fall of a Ukrainian missile on its territory.

Earlier today, the Belarusian News Agency announced that its air defenses had shot down a Ukrainian S-300 missile inside the country's territory this morning.

The agency added that there is no information about casualties or losses as a result of the downing of the Ukrainian missile, noting that President Alexander Lukashenko instructed a group of experts from the Ministry of Defense and the investigation committee to determine the circumstances of the accident.

Zelensky's delusions

Politically, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia's assessment of the Ukrainian president's peace plan is that it is absurd.

She added in a press conference that this plan is an attempt by Washington to present the Ukrainian regime as a peacemaker.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had expressed his country's refusal to adopt what he described as the "peace formula" proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a basis for negotiations, and believed that Kyiv was still not ready for real peace talks.

Lavrov said - in statements to the Russian Information Agency (RIAA) today - that the ideas put forward by Zelensky regarding the withdrawal of Russian forces from the Donbass, Crimea, Zaporizhia and Kherson, the payment of compensation and the recognition of international courts are "pure illusions", stressing that Russia will not talk to any party in light of this situation. Circumstances.

The Russian Foreign Minister said that if his country returns to joint work with the West, it will be on a new basis because the old methods are no longer effective, as he put it.

Lavrov accused the West of turning the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe into a "hostile media war zone" and said that Poland, which currently heads the organization, had contributed to reducing the results of the organization's work to zero.

In another file, the Russian Foreign Minister said that the West did not provide evidence of Iran supplying drones to his country.

He added that Western countries made a fuss in the UN Security Council about alleged supplies of Iranian marches to Russia, and as usual everything was presented in a manner of "high probability".
