  At around 13:49 local time on the 29th (12:49 Beijing time), a vehicle rear-end accident occurred on the 2nd Gyeongin Expressway in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

Live video footage showed that when the fire broke out, the road section hundreds of meters long in the soundproof tunnel was completely surrounded by red flames, and black smoke emitted from both sides of the tunnel.

  According to Yonhap News Agency, as of now, the fire has caused 5 deaths, 3 serious injuries, and 34 minor injuries due to smoke inhalation.

Local fire department sources said that some of the injured were seriously injured, and the number of casualties may increase.

  After the fire broke out, the South Korean fire department mobilized 94 water pump trucks and other equipment, 219 firefighters and fire helicopters to control the fire at about 15:18 that day, and the fire was completely extinguished at about 16:12.

  The South Korean fire department and police sources said that they will launch an investigation into the cause of the accident after the fire fighting and rescue work is completed.
