An Iranian woman competed without a hijab at the International Chess Championship in Kazakhstan.

This player, named Sarah Khadem, was born in 1997. She ranks 804th among chess players in each country and 10th in Iran.

She seems to have resisted in connection with the case of a female college student who mysteriously died after being arrested by the police, saying that she did not wear a hijab properly in Iran last September.

Currently, anti-government protests are continuing in Iran, and Iranian players participating in international competitions are showing solidarity by not wearing hijab.

In an international sports climbing competition held in Korea last October, Iranian female athlete Elnaz Rekabi climbed a rock wall without wearing a hijab.

Rekkabi later said that she had her hijab removed, although suspicions were raised that she was coerced into saying this.

Netizens commented, "To my eyes, it looks just like a hood, but why should she give up her life?"

"I'm afraid she will be punished after returning home," she said.
