"Bloody figure": why does the Western media criticize the President of Ukraine

Western media are actively criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In particular, the German newspaper Junge Welt writes that the current Ukrainian leader has become another "bloody figure" sponsored by Washington to ensure terror.

“Zelensky is simply continuing what the nationalist and fascist putschists have been doing in Kyiv since 2014: shelling residential areas of eastern Ukraine with artillery and snipers.

Zelensky disparagingly calls their Russian-speaking residents “individuals,” the newspaper writes.

“Zelensky is only slightly younger than the bloody figures that the collective West has kept in its colonies for decades to sow terror and discord.”

According to Junge Welt, it was the Ukrainian leader, indulging the desires of Washington, who created all the conditions for starting a confrontation with Russia.

“Zelensky undermined the Minsk agreements, threatened a Ukrainian nuclear bomb in February, and in return received $ 40 billion in Western military assistance this year alone, not to mention other billions in sums,” the publication reported.

Earlier, the German newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau wrote that Zelensky was creating the appearance of diplomacy for the sake of profit.

“If Ukraine proposes to hold an international “peace summit”, then for Kyiv it is primarily about diplomatic and political benefits, and to a lesser extent about serious negotiations with Russia,” the publication noted.

According to the Frankfurter Rundschau, Zelensky's visit to Washington was to show Ukrainians and allies that his government "does not stop trying to end the bloody conflict."

In December, the correctness of the actions of the Ukrainian leader was called into question by the American media.

Thus, National Review reported that “neither Ukraine nor Zelensky are perfect,” criticizing the then-planned visit of the Ukrainian leader to Washington.

As the magazine noted, because of this trip to the United States, “the squabble already going on inside the country will become even more aggravated,” which will lead to a further weakening of assistance provided to Kyiv by the American authorities.

According to the publication, the visit of the Ukrainian leader to Washington is the wrong step.

The Fox News journalist also expressed his surprise at the reaction of the American political establishment to Zelensky's visit and his appearance.

He argued this statement on Twitter with his article, in which he writes that the US position on the conflict in Ukraine is “Ukrainian maximalism”, according to which Zelensky is allegedly “noble”.

Recall that in the West, the President of Ukraine was criticized not only by the above-mentioned media.

So, at the end of July, The Grayzone accused Zelensky of mobilizing those convicted of pedophilia and torture because of the colossal losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In early August, The New York Times writer Thomas Friedman said that, having invested heavily in Ukraine, the United States does not want to "look under the hood of Kyiv for fear of seeing corruption and intrigue."

That same month, Sky News Australia host Corey Bernardi questioned whether the image of Zelensky as a hero that had been molded by Western media corresponded to reality.

In particular, the journalist states that the Western media do not inform their audience about “all the horrors” that happen to ethnic Russians in Ukraine under Zelensky.

Later, Die Welt published material about the "secret deals" of the President of Ukraine, which, according to the publication, are related to real estate in the UK, accounts in Cyprus and the Virgin Islands.

"In the West they closed their eyes"

As Alexander Kamkin, a senior researcher at IMEMO RAS, noted, criticism of Zelensky in the Western media speaks of fatigue from the President of Ukraine himself and from the Ukrainian case as a whole, and this trend, according to the analyst, will only gain momentum over time.

“All this can be explained by the fatigue of Western society from the Ukrainian case.

Because in Europe more and more people are beginning to be critical of the unconditional support of Ukraine by the EU states.

In general, of course, they are already tired of Ukraine - in the West, residents are increasingly concerned about their own internal problems, ”the expert said in an interview with RT.

A similar opinion is shared by Nikita Danyuk, deputy director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, a member of the Russian Civic Chamber.

According to him, Western society is growing tired of the Ukrainian case, as this topic is constantly being imposed through the media.

“At the same time, the problems that exist in Western countries in the areas of the economy, energy, as well as socio-political difficulties are practically ignored,” the analyst said in a commentary to RT.

Kamkin also considers the active criticism of Zelensky on the pages and on the air of Western media as a “symptom” that they “want to replace him.”

“Apparently, the frontman of this Ukrainian big top is preparing to change to some person more suitable for the collective West.

It cannot be ruled out that criticism of him in the Western media is already certain steps in this direction, designed to pave the way for such a measure.

Zelensky really begins to outlive himself, his essence was clear from the beginning, but the West turned a blind eye to this, ”the expert states.

Kamkin does not deny that criticism of Zelensky in the West may only intensify in the near future.

“This may become a more natural trend.

We see how more and more voices appear in the United States about the need to conduct a serious audit of financial assistance to Ukraine, and in Europe about the need for peace talks on the situation in Ukraine.

And in general, unconditional support for the Ukrainian regime is finding fewer and fewer supporters.

Danyuk, on the other hand, believes that against the backdrop of critical remarks in the Western media regarding the Kyiv regime, the situation for Zelensky and Ukraine "will worsen."

“More sane politicians will start to distance themselves from the Ukrainian case or try to sabotage aid to Kyiv.
