Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that an air alert was announced today, Wednesday, in Ukrainian cities, and while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country is close to victory over the Russian enemy, the Kremlin denied the existence of a peace plan in Kyiv.

And the Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted Ukrainian military sources as saying that the authorities declared a state of air alert in Kyiv and the provinces of Zaporizhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odessa in the south of the country in anticipation of new Russian missile attacks.

For its part, the Ukrainian army said that it had confronted the attempts of Russian forces to advance on more than one axis today, Wednesday, in Zaporizhia County (south).

The Ukrainian military administration in Zaporizhia confirmed that its forces are holding the front lines in the canton and repelling attempts by Russian forces to advance on more than one axis.

It indicated that Russian forces bombed civilian infrastructure in 11 regions and towns in Zaporizhia.

On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense broadcasted footage of what it said was an air attack targeting Ukrainian sites, which it did not disclose.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that its helicopters destroyed camouflaged command posts and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces.

Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that Russian artillery and missile forces destroyed the headquarters of the Ukrainian reserve forces in the city of Kramatorsk, pointing to the implementation of attacks on Ukrainian sites in Zaporizhia and Kobynsk in Kharkiv province.

Damage to the Russian airport

In a related context, Ukraine revealed some damage to the strategic Engels base in Russia after an attack targeted this week.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ignat, said that several Russian warplanes were transferred from the Russian airport of Engels to other airports, hours after it was targeted two days ago.

Ignat added that a significant decrease in the activity of Russian fighters inside Ukrainian airspace was recorded in the past hours, due to the possible damage that the airport might have suffered.

And the Russian Ministry of Defense announced, on Monday, that air defense systems had thwarted an attack by a Ukrainian drone on the Engels military base in Saratov province, which is the main base for Russian strategic bombers.

And while Ukraine did not claim direct responsibility for the attack that killed 3 Russian soldiers, a Ukrainian military official called at the time to wait a few days for satellite images to show the size of the explosions at the Engels base, he said.

Russian warnings

In turn, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of distributing, through Ukraine, what it described as electronic weapons in a "risky" manner to the international community.

Syromolotov warned, in a press statement reported by Russia Today, that NATO's action is fraught with unpredictable consequences for all members of the international community, and that if Russia today is the target, tomorrow any other country opposed to Washington will be in our place.

Earlier, the Russian diplomat said that the number of electronic attacks against Russian information centers increased after the start of the war in Ukraine, noting that these attacks originated mainly from North American countries and the European Union.

Last May, the Russian Foreign Ministry revealed that Ukraine had helped US intelligence mobilize an "electronic army" with the aim of harming the infrastructure of Russia and its allies, and accused Washington of working to increase the military development of Ukraine's information space.

Zelensky's remarks

Politically, the Ukrainian president pledged to continue preparing the Ukrainian defense and security forces for the next year, stressing that his country united the European Union and is approaching victory over the Russian enemy.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine will restore life to normal in the Donbass and Crimea;

as described.

For his part, the Ukrainian presidential advisor said that his country's constants are the restoration of Donbass, Crimea and all lands seized by Russia.

He added that Russia started a war to kill civilians and seize lands, and other Russian justifications are pure lies, as he described it.

Moscow terms of peace

In turn, the Kremlin denied today, Wednesday, the existence of a peace plan for Ukraine so far, accusing Kyiv of not taking into account what it called today's realities.

The Kremlin confirmed its rejection of any peace plan with Ukraine that does not recognize the accession of the "four new regions" to Russia.

In reference to the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson, which Moscow announced its annexation months ago after holding a referendum, the results of which were rejected by Kyiv and its Western allies.

And Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced Moscow's readiness to discuss security issues in Ukraine and other major strategic issues.

Lavrov said - in his statements from Moscow - that it is not possible to communicate with the administration of US President Joe Biden unless Washington realizes "the negativity of its current behavior," as he put it.

He added that there are no alternatives to building relations of mutual respect with Russia in Ukraine, calling on Washington to abandon its current positions towards his country.

For her part, the spokeswoman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations said that the international organization cannot hold a peace summit on Ukraine without the consent of all parties, after the statements of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, in which he stipulated that Russia face the war crimes court before holding direct talks with his country. .

The war between Russia and Ukraine is entering its 11th month, and there is still little hope of stopping it through diplomatic solutions, as indicated by the contradictory statements of officials of the two countries in their vision of stopping the fighting.
