Two alleged murders have triggered social alarm in Bilbao and its surroundings after a new sexist crime that occurred this morning in the San Francisco neighborhood when a man murdered his wife with a knife.

In addition, the police investigation initiated last Saturday has allowed the identification of the body found in the Ría de Bilbao and that it would be a neighbor of Getxo, about 40 years old and transsexual.

The Ertzaintza and members of the Local Police are inspecting the Hilargi tavern located on Calle San Francisco in Bilbao.

The agents have arrested and transferred to the Ertzaintza police station the owner of the establishment who called the Local Police after

stabbing his wife

, causing her death, according to El Correo.

The investigation of this new sexist crime overlaps with the one initiated last Saturday by the Civil Guard and the Ertzaintza after the location of a corpse in the Ría de Bilbao, very close to the Portugalete suspension bridge.

Although at first the suicide hypothesis was considered, the investigators verified that the body had two weights tied to its waist so that it remained submerged.

The body, however, was sighted around 5:45 in the morning on Christmas Eve at low tide and the circumstances of this death began to be investigated.

The Ser chain has advanced that the Civil Guard has just confirmed that it is a resident of Bilbao, about 40 years old and transsexual, which gives a new twist to the police investigations carried out by agents of the Armed Institute in coordination with the Ertzaintza.
