Chinanews.com, Beijing, December 28. The WeChat public account "Consular Express" of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a notice on the 28th to change the standby number of the 12308 consular protection hotline of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From January 1, 2023, the 12308 consular protection hotline of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will activate a new standby number (010) 65612308, and the original standby number (010) 59913991 will be discontinued.
12308 short number and dialing method remain unchanged.
The notice stated that in September 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs established a global emergency hotline for consular protection and services (12308 consular protection hotline).
While the "12308" short number is officially put into use, if Chinese citizens cannot dial the 12308 short number due to communication network problems abroad, they can obtain timely and effective consular protection and services by dialing the hotline backup number (010) 59913991.
The notice thanked everyone for their long-term trust and support for the 12308 consular protection hotline, and expressed that they would continue to provide all-weather, zero-day difference, and barrier-free consular protection and services to overseas Chinese citizens wholeheartedly.
