Bangladesh's first urban railway opened on the 28th in some sections, and as development is being promoted with support from Japan, there are expectations that it will lead to alleviation of traffic congestion and air pollution.

Bangladesh's first urban railway "Dhaka Metro Line 6" is an elevated line of over 20 kilometers that connects the center of the capital Dhaka from north to south.

Several Japanese companies are participating in the construction, and the Japanese government is supporting JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) through ODA loans and technical cooperation.

According to JICA, "Dhaka Metro Line 6" will introduce IC card-compatible automatic ticket gates using Japanese technology and women-only cars, and it is scheduled to open in all sections in 2025, three years later. That's it.

Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is considered to be one of the most densely populated cities in the world, and it is hoped that it will lead to the alleviation of traffic congestion and air pollution, which are becoming more serious as economic development progresses.
