Under an international arrest warrant, a 27-year-old man was recently arrested in Seine-et-Marne.
He is suspected of having, with the help of two accomplices, stolen around 65,000 euros worth of jewelry from a shop in Parly 2, Chesnay-Rocquencourt (Yvelines), in November.
Due to lack of availability for an immediate appearance, he was released, reports
Le Parisien
.
He will be tried by the Versailles court in June.
The manager of the robbed jewelry store filed a complaint and an investigation was opened by the police.
Thanks to CCTV footage, officials were able to identify two members of the trio.
The defendants are also suspected of having committed another theft in December in a jewelry store in the Vélizy 2 shopping center. This time, the damage was estimated at 2,500 euros.
During his custody, the 27-year-old man denied the facts while acknowledging his presence on the surveillance videos.
Before his arrest, he was also wanted by the Rosny-sous-Bois police station (Seine-Saint-Denis) for similar facts.
His two alleged accomplices are still wanted.
