Saudi Arabia issues a list of forbidden names for newborns

The Ministry of the Interior for Civil Status in Saudi Arabia clarified the controls followed when registering the names of newborns, what is permissible and what is prohibited and not allowed.

And the Civil Status clarified, through its official account on “Twitter”, that “it is permissible to register the name defined as “the” in the names known to the Arabs in the past and used in society, such as “Al-Bara’, Al-Anoud, Al-Jawhara, and Al-Walid.”

She indicated that "the name is registered stripped of titles as (Mr.), and it is not allowed to register additional phrases in the name field such as (known as such...)".

She added, "It is not allowed to register compound names such as (Muhammad Saleh), and it is forbidden to register names that violate Islamic law, such as (Abdul Rasul)."
