Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian on Tuesday (December 27th) asked Vladimir Putin for an explanation of the inaction of Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh.

A very important axis of communication in this region has indeed been blocked since mid-December, while Russian soldiers are supposed to guarantee the free movement of people and goods there.

Since 2020, a Russian interposition force has been deployed in

Nagorno-Karabakh

to enforce the ceasefire concluded under the patronage of Vladimir Putin.

A first for Russian soldiers who, until then, were mainly used in combat missions.

But since mid-December, a few dozen people posing as environmental activists have been blocking the Lachin corridor, a very important communication axis in the region.

A situation that prompted the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinian, to discuss with Vladimir Putin the situation and the possible options.

If the Russian president has promised to discuss the situation in detail, one cannot help but think of the problems, of another order, that his "special operation" in Ukraine may pose to him.

Still, the one who managed to silence the Armenian and Azerbaijani guns at the

end of 2020

must avoid a new outbreak of violence in his near foreign space.

His credibility with his allies from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) meeting in Saint Petersburg, some of whom are questioning the merits of the operation he launched in Ukraine, is at stake.
