This is stated on the website of the service.

“FAS recognized MegaFon as violating antitrust laws.

The telecom operator unreasonably increased the cost of services for subscribers, ”the statement says.

According to the agency, in May of this year, the operator raised tariffs for communication services for more than 16.5 million subscribers by an average of 12%.

At the same time, the FAS found that the level of tariff changes did not correspond to the level of inflation since the beginning of 2022.

“The Service conducted an analysis of the economic feasibility of the increase and came to the conclusion that the increase in the company's costs does not correspond to the increase in revenues from the increase in tariffs for communication services.

According to the department, the increase in tariffs in the absence of technological, economic and other justification violates the interests of consumers,” the message says.

The service issued an order to Megafon on the need to reduce tariffs, within which there were increases, to an economically justified level.

As for the fine for the company, its amount will be determined during the administrative investigation.

In October, the Federal Antimonopoly Service initiated a case against the telecommunications operator MegaFon after an unreasonable increase in tariffs for communication services.
