Who has never received a gift card under the tree?

If it allows the person who receives it to treat themselves to what they want in the store concerned, the gift card is often lost or forgotten at the bottom of a drawer until its expiration date.

To limit losses, some sites allow them to be resold easily.

You may have been entitled to it under the tree.

The famous gift card that we often offer when we are short of ideas or at the last minute.

Almost everyone has already received at least one, but often it is left in the bottom of a drawer, forgotten and it ends up no longer being valid.

Unused gift cards alone represent almost a billion euros in loss.

So before that happens, as in one out of five cases, the solution is to resell it.

A redemption in a few clicks

On Boxing Day, some disappointed people, like Arthur, would already like to get rid of it.

"My uncle bought me a 50 euro gift card at Darty. It would suit me to exchange or resell the card so that I can buy myself what I want."

For this, everything happens online.

Sylvain Reynier and his Place des Cartes platform, for example, offer to buy back the precious sesame.

"You have to fill in directly on our site the sign you want to return, the amount of the card as well as its expiry date. And automatically, it will make you a redemption proposal. You put your card in an envelope, you send it to us and as soon as we receive it, we make a transfer in 24 hours", he explains.

The cards then resold

The transfer depends on the notoriety of the brand and the expiry date.

A share goes to the seller, but another remunerates the platform.

For a gift card of 100 euros at Darty, Fnac or Decathlon for example, "we will take it back 85 euros, so 85 euros will be credited to the bank account", continues Sylvain Reynier.

Once the card has been recovered, the organization puts it back on sale and cheaper than the initial purchase.

So don't hesitate if you still lack ideas next year.
