It was the British Parking Association that threw the pavement into the water.

According to her, many underground car parks are not designed to support the weight of electric cars.

This is especially the case with older structures, built in the 70s, when mid-size family cars weighed around a ton.

Today, a small Peugeot e-208 weighs 1.5 tons, a Tesla S exceeds 2 tons and the new Volvo EX90 flirts with 3 tons.

Blame the batteries

This insane overweight of electric cars, due to the weight of the on-board batteries, would double the load to be borne by the infrastructure of underground car parks.

Huge constraints that would represent a real danger without reinforcement of the structures.

So, will it be necessary one day to prohibit access to certain urban car parks for electric cars?

This would obviously be an aberration!
