On December 25, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, State Councilor and Foreign Minister, stated at the 2022 Symposium on the International Situation and China's Diplomacy that in the face of changes and turmoil in the international landscape and multiple crises raging, China stands firm with the vast number of developing countries. Standing together and working together to uphold international morality and expand common interests has created a new example of equal treatment and sincere mutual assistance among developing countries.
First, BRICS cooperation is writing a new chapter.
The BRICS "Year of China" has many highlights. We successfully hosted the 14th BRICS Leaders' Meeting and the Global Development High-Level Dialogue, and held more than 160 high-level events in various fields throughout the year. The strong voice injects BRICS impetus into the realization of global recovery and development.
The "BRICS+" foreign ministers' meeting was held for the first time, and more than 70 countries and international organizations were invited to participate in the "BRICS+" activities. More than a dozen countries expressed their desire to join the "BRICS family".
The BRICS cooperation has become the most influential platform for South-South cooperation, and a group of emerging market countries are making great strides to catch up, growing from followers of global governance to parallel runners.
Second, China-Africa cooperation has been enhanced in an all-round way.
We practice the correct concept of righteousness and benefit, accelerate the advancement of the "Nine Projects" and support Africa's independent development.
Actively provide vaccines and food aid to relieve the urgent needs of Africa.
The "Concept of Peaceful Development in the Horn of Africa" was put forward to explore and solve the deep-seated challenges in the region.
Be the first to publicly support the AU's entry into the G20 and encourage Africa to play a greater role in the international arena.
Third, China-Arab relations have taken historic steps.
President Xi Jinping attended the first China-Arab and China-Sea Summits, launched the largest and highest-level diplomatic action to the Arab world since the founding of New China, reached an agreement on building a closer China-Arab community with a shared future, and announced the promotion of "eight major joint actions" with the Arab side, China and the sea have established and strengthened strategic partnerships.
The two forces of China and Arab states and the two great civilizations are working hand in hand to help their respective national rejuvenation and promote the peaceful development of the region.
Fourth, China and Latin America have deepened strategic consensus.
China and Argentina celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, launched a community of common destiny with Cuba, and strengthened exchanges of experience in state governance and docking of development strategies with countries in the region, and continued to expand practical cooperation.
Fifth, breakthroughs have been made in the relations between China and Pacific island countries.
It is the first time to conduct a "full-coverage" visit to an island country that has established diplomatic relations. In response to the development needs of the island country and the wishes of the people, six cooperation platforms have been tailored to address climate change, poverty reduction, agriculture, disaster prevention, Juncao technology, and emergency supplies.
