Before the pandemic, Christmas Day was one of the most popular nights out of the year, with a turnover of 30 percent more than a normal weekend.

New Year's also contributed to an increased turnover of as much as 70 percent more.

This year's Christmas will therefore be more important than in a long time for the restaurant and pub operations that were hit hardest during the pandemic.

- The fact that bars and nightclubs can be open during December and on Christmas Day will be of great importance.

In the wake of the pandemic, this Christmas is far more important than before because we need to pay back debts, says Jonas Siljhammar, CEO of the industry organization Visita.
