China News Agency, Tokyo, December 24 (Reporter Zhu Chenxi) According to Japan's "Yomiuri Shimbun" report on the 24th, the Nara Prefecture District Prosecutor's Office in Japan stated that according to the results of the psychiatric examination, the suspect who shot and killed former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was Tohya Yamagami. With the capacity for criminal responsibility, it is planned to formally prosecute him for homicide on January 13, 2023.

According to reports, Tetsuya Yamagami was handed over to the Nara Prefecture District Prosecutor's Office by the Japanese police on July 10 on suspicion of homicide.

Toru Yamagami also confessed after being arrested that his mother donated a large sum of money to the Unification Church, causing family life to fall into chaos, and thus held a grudge against the Unification Church. He attacked Abe because he believed that Abe had a close relationship with the Unification Church.

According to reports, based on Tetsuya Yamagami's confession, Japanese prosecutors decided to conduct a psychiatric evaluation on him to investigate whether he has the capacity for criminal responsibility.

From July 25 to November 29, the Nara Prefecture District Prosecutor's Office implemented "appraisal detention" on Toruya Yamagami.

During this period, medical experts had many conversations with Tetsuya Yamagami to understand his growth experience and mental state at the time of the crime.

According to the report, Japanese prosecutors believe that Tetsuya Yamagami's psychiatric evaluation showed that he did not suffer from mental illness that would affect the ability to judge right and wrong.

In addition, Toru Yamagami also formulated an attack plan, including homemade guns and investigating Abe's itinerary.

Based on this, the prosecution believes that Toru Yamagami should also be held criminally responsible.
