Ahead of Christmas, the severe cold and heavy snow that hit the United States are causing damage such as power outages and traffic disruptions in various places.

According to CNN and Associated Press, on the 24th, the day before Christmas, 1.6 million households are in a power outage in a wide area ranging from the southeast such as North Carolina and Georgia to the south such as Kentucky and Texas, and the northeast such as New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Electricity was cut to more than 708,000 homes, especially in North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and the Southeast, including Florida.

384,000 homes in Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut, and 383,000 homes in the South, including Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma, were also without electricity.

There were also human casualties.

A 'bomb cyclone' formed in the Midwest of the United States moved eastward, spraying strong cold waves and snow, and it has been confirmed that more than 15 deaths have occurred since the 21st.

In New York, two people died after first responders were stranded in heavy snowfall, and four people died in a car accident caused by heavy snowfall in Ohio.

In Kansas, three people died in car accidents.

Heavy snowfall, strong winds, and freezing are appearing everywhere, and flight cancellations are also expanding.

According to flight information tracking site FlightAware, a total of 1,600 flights across the United States were canceled this morning alone, and 1,800 flights were delayed.

It was reported that about 5,700 domestic and international flights were canceled the day before.
