A 22-year-old man was shot dead in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille on Friday evening, police sources told AFP, confirming information from the regional daily

The young man was hit by two bullets, in the pelvis and the flank, near the HLM Méditerranée, these sources confirmed.

The death was pronounced at 11:40 p.m., more than half an hour after the intervention of the emergency services.

The Marseille public prosecutor's office went to the scene and the judicial police were seized of the investigation.

They will have to determine if a vehicle found on fire shortly after in the 13th arrondissement is linked to the perpetrator or perpetrators of this homicide.

Several districts of Marseille are regularly the scene of homicides by bullets linked to drug trafficking.
