According to RIA Novosti, the main result of the work of the committee was the recommendation to the Ministry of Justice to file four criminal charges against former President Donald Trump, including “inciting or assisting a rebellion,” in connection with the events of January 6, 2021.

The committee noted that in the course of its work it formed a significant array of new information.

“We know far more about the president’s plans and actions to change the outcome of the election than virtually everyone in Congress knew when President Trump was impeached,” the report said.

On December 19, the special committee recommended that the Justice Department file criminal charges against Trump in connection with the storming of the Capitol.

On January 6, 2021, a protest rally by supporters of former US President Donald Trump took place in Washington, which turned into riots.

The demonstrators broke into the congress building, where the procedure for approving the results of the presidential election was taking place.
