Macron calls on Aliyev to ensure "freedom of movement" between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia

French President Emmanuel Macron called on his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, during a telephone conversation on Friday, to ensure "freedom of movement" between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, after Azerbaijani activists blocked the only road linking them.

The Elysee said in a statement that Macron told Aliyev, during the phone conversation, his "deep concerns about the return of tension in the South Caucasus" and called on him to "allow freedom of movement along the Lachin Corridor" that connects the separatist enclave with Armenia.
