In Sörmland, 607 people were tested positive for covid during week 50, compared with 512 the week before.

The situation looks basically the same throughout the country.

It is worth noting that today there are not as many people being tested via the healthcare system as in the past, so the number of people infected is likely to be large.

The Public Health Authority has made calculations that show various future scenarios.

According to the scenario that the authority deems most likely, the spread continues to reach its peak in mid-January.

- This means that there should be preparedness for a continued increased burden in care and social care as well as in society at large for increased sickness absence due to covid-19, says Sara Byfors, head of department at the Public Health Agency.

Now it is not just Covid-19 that worries healthcare.

Even the contagious rs virus, which can cause severe illness for young children, is on the rise in Sörmland.

During the last week when 45 new cases were discovered compared to 25 cases the week before.
