The discreet intelligence service of the French armies has agreed to open its doors to Europe 1. Throughout the week, we take you to the air base 110 of Senlis-Creil in Oise, to the HQ of the expert centers of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DRM).

At the headquarters of the expert centers of the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DRM), recruitment is a real challenge.

Competition in the small world of spies comes from all over.

From the private sector, of course, but also from other intelligence services.

Military intelligence is found in this segment with other inner circle services, such as its cousins, perhaps better known to the general public, the Directorate General for External Security (DGSE) or Internal Security (DGSI).

Gustave, 22, comes from a background in cybersecurity.

After his studies, he joined the DRM.

Within his promotion, many have turned to the private sector.

He chose the armies.

"If you want to be in contact with the people who are on the ground, it's a good bridge", he recommends to the microphone Europe 1.

Competition with the private

Cyber experts, big data or even specialists in artificial intelligence… To stay at the best level, the DRM must constantly recruit this type of profile, ultra specialized and above all very popular with private companies where the remuneration is sometimes much better.

But General Cyrille, Deputy Director of Military Intelligence has his argument: the sense of commitment.

"The people who join us know that their job will in a very concrete way allow our leaders to be informed, to make the best decisions. And as a result, to protect their country, their fellow citizens with in addition a very embodied dimension, very military of our intelligence", he assures.

Accommodation for less than 50 euros per month

The DRM is now recruiting from Bac+2 to Bac+6 level, all types of profiles, and in particular civilians.

In intelligence (research and analysis), cyber, engineering (telecom network infrastructure, developers) and support (purchasing, human resources, logistics).

Including on airbase 110.

Above all, there is an argument that often hits the mark: whatever the status of the personnel housed on this military base, their monthly rent will be less than 50 euros.

By 2025, the DRM, whose budget has increased by 25% since 2017, must still recruit 300 staff to reach a target of 2,300 agents.
