A 47-year-old man died after the van he was driving fell into the water on Thursday morning between Bujaleuf and Masléon (Haute-Vienne).

The victim was traveling on departmental 232 when she lost control of her vehicle while crossing the Bujaleuf bridge, reports

The investigation will have to determine the reasons for this departure from the road.

A call for witnesses was also launched to try to understand the circumstances of the accident.

People with information can contact the gendarmes at 05.55.69.10.20 or by dialing 17. The van hit a railing of the bridge then it was rushed below, into the waters of the Vienne.

The driver's head would then have been stuck underwater.

The 40-year-old was dead when rescuers arrived on the scene.

His body was taken out of the vehicle by divers and then brought up by climbers.

In all, around thirty firefighters and a dozen gendarmes intervened.
