Zelenskyy gave a speech in the US Congress: "It is in your power to help us"

The President of Ukraine is visiting Washington.

After receiving promises from President Biden about the advanced Patriot air defense system, Zelenskyy spoke in the US Congress, where several members had dressed in Ukraine's colors - blue and yellow.

- You can strengthen the sanctions to make Russia feel how devastating its aggression really is.

It is in your power, indeed, to help us bring to justice all who started this unprovoked and criminal war.

Let us do it.

Let the terrorist be held responsible for his aggression and compensate all the losses this war has created, Zelenskyy said.

"Your money is an investment"

The Ukrainian president described to the American elected representatives how despite the war the Ukrainians keep their courage up and how a victory over Russia is not only about Ukraine's survival but is also important for the United States and the rest of the world.

- It will define the world our children and grandchildren get to live in. It will determine the kind of democracy that both Ukrainians and Americans get to live in, he said.

- Your money is not charity, it is an investment.

First trip abroad since the invasion

Zelenskyi also handed over a Ukrainian flag from the battlefield, near the town of Bachmut, to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who along with Vice President Kamala Harris sat behind Zelenskyi during the speech.

The US trip is Zelensky's first trip abroad since Russia invaded Ukraine and according to sources to NBC News and CNN, he must have traveled by US military aircraft and landed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
