The head of the American diplomacy Antony Blinken called on China on Thursday to share its information on the new wave of Covid-19 that the country is experiencing, and again offered help in the form of vaccines.

“It is very important that all countries, including China, focus on ensuring that people are vaccinated, that tests and treatments are available, and even more so that information about what they live is shared with the world -- because it has implications not just for China but for the whole world," he told a news conference.

“It is possible that other variants will develop”

Since Beijing ended its strict health restrictions in early December, the number of positive Covid-19 cases has exploded in China, raising fears of high mortality among the elderly.

According to testimonies collected by AFP, the crematoriums are under pressure, without a formal link with the Covid being able to be established.

With a circulating virus, “it is possible that other variants develop, that these variants in turn spread and that they affect us, us or other countries”, worried this Thursday Antony Blinken, ensuring to be "totally ready to provide assistance to those who request it", which China has not done.

The US Secretary of State is planning a visit to Beijing in early 2023 to try to ease tensions with the United States' main diplomatic and economic adversary.
