China News Agency, Washington, December 21 (Reporter Sha Hanting) The U.S. Senate voted on the 21st local time to approve Lynn Tracy as the U.S. ambassador to Russia.

  In the day's vote, 93 votes were in favor and 2 votes were against.

Tracy's nomination was supported by both Democrats and Republicans.

  Tracy is a career diplomat and has served as the U.S. ambassador to Armenia since 2019.

Tracy previously served as senior adviser on Russian affairs in the U.S. State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

She has also worked in U.S. diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan, among other places.

  US President Biden nominated Tracy as the US ambassador to Russia on September 20, replacing the former US ambassador to Russia Sullivan who resigned in early September.

  On the same day, U.S. President Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was invited to visit, at the White House.

At the press conference after the meeting, Biden once again condemned Russia's military actions against Ukraine and expressed support for Ukraine.

  U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on the same day that the U.S. will provide another $1.85 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
