The traditional Christmas dinner organized at the Hôtel de Matignon in Paris on Tuesday was, as always, the opportunity for the ministers and collaborators of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne to offer a gift to the latter.

This year, their choice fell on a football jersey from the France team which went badly with some, says RTL.

If the object is not likely to arouse controversy, its flocking is much more so.

Ten appeals to Article 49.3 of the Constitution

The tunic had indeed been personalized.

The number 49 has been added on the front while the number 3 has been written on the back.

This is a direct reference to the ten appeals to Article 49.3 of Elisabeth Borne's Constitution since the return to parliament in the context of the vote on the 2023 budget of the State and that of Social Security.

The gift was intended to be humorous and caused a lot of laughs during the dinner.

The Prime Minister did not hesitate to put on her new “49.3” jersey in front of the participants.

However, not all of them shared the ambient hilarity.

"I don't want to be involved in this thing," reacted a minister.

Another guest quoted by

Le Figaro

said he was "ashamed" and found the present "null".

“The gift was meant to be light, not enough to make a fuss of it,” said a third witness.

The famous football shirt also provoked many reactions outside the guests.

The communicator of the Prime Minister, however, asked the participants to stop taking photos, reports

Le Point

.

On Twitter, EELV MP Sandrine Rousseau denounced "political cynicism".

Raquel Garrido, MP LFI, wrote "The question is not whether Borne supports 49.3 but until when the French will support 49.3".
