Every fifth student surveyed at Uppsala University states that their study situation makes them feel mentally ill, and mental illness is more widespread among university students than professionals of the same age.

In order to counteract and support students with mental crisis conditions, the employees at the Faculties of Pharmacy and Medicine must now be trained in first aid for mental health.

Henning Henschel is one of the first employees to take the course.

Have used first aid

- I used my new knowledge already the day after the training, I then had to intervene in a situation I would not otherwise have discovered, says Henning Henschel, senior lecturer at the department of medicinal chemistry at Uppsala University.

Mental Health First Aid is a scientific program developed in Australia.

Karolinska Institutet has since translated the program.

In the clip, you can hear Henning Henschel tell about when he got to use the course.
