The largest gas field in eastern Russia began producing natural gas to supply a pipeline connecting Russia and China on the 21st.

As Europe reduces its dependence on Russian natural gas, Russia expands supplies to China and further strengthens its ties.

Russian government-owned gas company Gazprom held a ceremony in St.

President Putin, who attended online, emphasized the results, saying, "This is a special and memorable event for the Russian gas industry and the economy as a whole," and ordered the start of operations.

Gazprom said the field has the largest extractable reserves of about 1.8 trillion cubic meters in eastern Russia and will be linked to the Siberian Power pipeline to China, which began supplying it three years ago.

The plan calls for annual production of 27 billion cubic meters from 2026 onwards.

As Europe reduces its reliance on Russian natural gas over Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, Russia is stepping up its supply to China and further strengthening its ties.
