So far this year, around 4,500 wildlife accidents have been reported in Kalmar County.

In Kronoberg, the number is currently just under 3,000, but Mats Berg, who is a police officer and inspector at the National Wildlife Accident Council, believes it will increase.

- In Kronoberg there are usually 3,100-3,200 accidents.

We are 30 days behind in the reporting system, so more will come in, he tells SVT Småland.

Small increase in Kalmar and Kronoberg

The number of accidents in Kronoberg and Kalmar county is currently at the same levels as in previous years, but Mats Berg believes there may be a slight increase when all the reports are received.

Viewed across the country as a whole, the number of accidents has decreased.

- Last year we had 65,000 wildlife accidents.

This year the figure is 56,000. But we will probably reach 60,000 accidents when everything is reported, says Mats Berg, who is an inspector at the National Wildlife Accident Council.
