King Abdullah II of Jordan approved today, Thursday, a new government amendment that was limited to the "Tourism and Antiquities" portfolio.

This came according to a decree announced by the Jordanian Royal Court, and this is the sixth amendment in the government of Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh since its formation in October 2020.

And the royal decree stated, "His Excellency Mr. Makram Mustafa Abdul Karim Al-Qaisi is appointed as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities."

Another decree was issued approving the resignation of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Nayef Al-Fayez, whom the Council of Ministers decided to appoint as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority.

Al-Khasawneh made the fifth amendment to his government last October, and it included 10 ministries.

On October 7, 2020, the Jordanian monarch assigned Al-Khasawneh to form the government, and he is the 13th prime minister in his era since assuming his constitutional powers on February 7, 1999.

It is worth noting that the southern governorates of Jordan witnessed, at the beginning of this month, mostly peaceful strikes, in protest against the rise in fuel prices. These strikes began with truck drivers, who were sometimes joined by taxi and public bus drivers.
