The Izvestia newspaper writes about this with reference to the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Nina Ostanina, and the first deputy head of the committee on education, Yana Lantratova.

It is noted that at the request of the apparatus of the State Duma, the State University of Management conducted a large-scale study on the behavior of children on the Internet, in which more than 26.5 thousand respondents aged from six to 18 took part.

The study revealed that 72% of children and adolescents have encountered unpleasant content on the Internet, including social networks.

According to the results of the study, specialists from the University of Public Administration proposed to develop and adopt a law on social networks.

They offered to register in social networks according to passport data.

They also consider it necessary to legally establish liability for cyberbullying.

According to Ostanina, the State Duma Committee on Family Affairs is finalizing the 2010 law “On protecting children from information harmful to their health and development.”

In turn, Lantratova said that in early 2023 she plans to hold hearings and a meeting of the working group on child safety, where they will discuss, among other things, the improvement of legislation on the protection of children on the Internet.

Earlier it was reported that the top 3 most popular messengers among schoolchildren included VKontakte and/or VK Messenger (62%), Telegram and WhatsApp (58% and 55% respectively).
