When the snow does not fall and the temperatures do not drop, it becomes more and more difficult to ski in the southern parts of the country.

Something that, according to Isaberg's CEO Louise Söderlund, risks leading to fewer people learning to ski.

- It will be a shorter period for us to teach the Swedish people to ski, she says.

Water from Nissan

In Hestra, all the snow on the slopes is produced by snow cannons on water from the adjacent Nissan, provided the temperature drops below three degrees.

Any thought about saving snow from previous seasons has not been an option.

- Because we are so far south, we cannot save snow in the same way as in the north, it will be too time-consuming and climate-smart.

The reason is that the snow has time to melt and lose the quality desired for skiing, in addition, it is rarely possible to produce more snow in the spring when the temperatures become higher.

In the clip, Louise Söderlund, CEO at Isaberg's ski resort in Hestra, talks about how the shorter snow seasons affect skiing in the south.
