Yesterday, the Economic Institute (KI) presented its latest forecast, which states that the recession that Sweden is entering next year is expected to last until 2025.

The finance minister gives the same calculation when she presents the Ministry of Finance's latest forecast at a press conference on Thursday.

It is estimated that Sweden's GDP growth will amount to minus 0.7 percent in 2023. At the same time, unemployment is predicted to be 7.8 percent next year.

In the latest forecast made at the beginning of November, GDP was estimated to decrease by 0.4 percent in the coming year.

Unemployment was then predicted to be 7.7 percent.

- It is good to remind that the uncertainty is greater now than in a very long time.

Forecasts are of course always uncertain, but in a situation of energy crisis throughout Europe, energy prices that are volatile and a war in our immediate area, the uncertainties are greater than in a very long time, says Elisabeth Svantesson.
