Transport excluded the member Mats Fredlund, who is active in the Sweden Democrats.

On December 8, Svea went to the Court of Appeal along the lines of the district court and annulled the exclusion.

Transport's federal board has now decided to appeal the Court of Appeal's judgment to the Supreme Court.

"The members are violated"

- If the Court of Appeal verdict is allowed to stand, our members' freedom of association will be violated.

We have drawn up our statutes after long discussions at congresses and decided how they should be interpreted, says Lars Mikaelsson, federal secretary for Transport to TT.

TT: How likely do you think it is that HD will take this up for consideration?

- The most recent judgments regarding this are from the 1940s.

It is an incredibly changed job market since then and society in general has also changed.

In those days you could not get a job in the industries if you were not a member of a trade union, that is not the case today.

Been going on for several years

Lars Mikaelsson says that it is "very important that this is tried", not only for Transport but also for the trade union movement and union life in general.

- You must be allowed to have self-determination in the association, he says.

The dispute has been going on for several years.

After the Court of Appeal's verdict, Mats Fredlund commented for TT that it went as expected.

- It is everyone's right to be able to join Swedish trade unions, he said then.
