Sultan Al-Jaber meets Aziz Akhnoush

The UAE and Morocco are discussing strengthening strategic bilateral relations and joint action

The Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Jaber, paid a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, during which he met with the Moroccan Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, and a number of ministers in the Moroccan government, in the presence of the country’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, Al-Asri Saeed Ahmed Al-Dhaheri.

At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Jaber conveyed the greetings of the leadership, government and people of the UAE to the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco, the leadership, government and people.

During the meeting with the Moroccan Prime Minister, he affirmed the solid historical relations between the two countries.

The discussion also dealt with ways to enhance fraternal bilateral relations, and opportunities for investment and joint cooperation in a number of vital areas.

This visit comes within the framework of the keenness of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries to develop brotherly relations and raise them to new strategic horizons, and work to follow up and activate opportunities for cooperation in various industrial, economic, investment, cultural, tourism, and other vital fields that contribute to achieving the interests of the two brotherly countries.

During the visit, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Jaber met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, where the two sides discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

He also met with the Minister of Industry and Trade, Riad Mazour, and the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali. During these meetings, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy, renewable energy, industry and technology. The two sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two countries on these issues.

The discussions also included the UAE's readiness to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in 2023, and how to unite efforts to ensure energy security and promote climate action to achieve sustainable economic development goals.

It is worth noting that the volume of non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco increased during the first nine months of 2022, to reach 2.8 billion dirhams, achieving a growth of 24%, compared to the same period in 2021.

• The visit comes within the framework of the keenness of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries to develop fraternal relations and raise them to new strategic horizons.
