Jordanian-French talks addressing the challenges in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon

The Jordanian Monarch, King Abdullah II, and the French President, Emmanuel Macron, held talks in the capital, Amman, yesterday, on bilateral relations and regional and international developments.

And according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) yesterday, it was confirmed, during bilateral talks followed by expanded ones, in the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the depth of the distinguished friendship between Jordan and France. King Abdullah valued the close and historical relations between Jordan and France, which are continuing. expansion and development, praising France's important and leadership role and its support for the Kingdom and the region.

The king considered that France has an important and vital role in the history of the region, and added, "We have always had distinguished relations with France on the political level, as well as in the military field, given the circumstances that our region is going through."

He pointed out that his talks with the French President touched on the challenges in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, in addition to the Palestinian cause, noting that Macron's interest and focus on the issues and challenges facing the region contributed to greatly supporting efforts to address them.

The Jordanian monarch praised the positions of France and the European Union in support of efforts to achieve peace on the basis of the two-state solution, stressing that Jordan will continue to make all efforts to care for and protect the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, based on the Hashemite guardianship over it.

The King pointed out the importance of continued support for refugees and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Macron stressed the importance of cooperation with Jordan, and what will result from his talks with King Abdullah, referring to the meetings held on the sidelines of the second Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership that was held at the Dead Sea.

The French President stressed that Jordan's role in the region, bilateral cooperation, and coordination on issues vital to the security and stability of the region are essential for France, stressing that Jordan under the leadership of King Abdullah is a partner, ally and friend of the French in the region.

Macron praised the second Baghdad conference, which he considered a success.

The talks dealt with all global challenges, especially food security and climate issues, and the importance of continuing the efforts exerted at various levels in the war on terrorism, within a holistic approach.
