Every day, Europe 1 looks at an idea in your daily life.

With Christmas fast approaching, many want to create their gifts rather than buy them.

To do this, they can count on FabLabs, these participatory workshops that provide access to digital or laser tools.

Something to please for sure.

Create rather than buy.

This is the slogan of the

makers

.

That's what we call the members of FabLabs, these participatory workshops that provide access to 3D printers, digital embroiderers or laser cutting machines.

And as the holidays approach, many have ideas in mind to create their own decorations and their own gifts.

Europe 1 takes you to one of the 400 FabLabs in France, in Toulouse.

"It's the best gift you can give"

"First you have to put the material in and then you have to mount the plate to be at the right distance from the laser."

Saé Renard from the Artilect association gives some advice on laser cutting.

A few minutes later, the machine created pretty plywood Christmas decorations, with perfect finishes.

"We have people who want to give gifts, things they won't find in stores. These are semi-industrial machines that we don't have at home and there, we make them available to people. And the rendering is great," she smiles.

Artilect, one of the first Fablabs in France, has 500 members.

Loïc has planned to offer a game made of wood.

"I created a wooden Scrabble game. There's a lot of work for the design but once it's done, we're happy."

Marie, she wants to offer personalized decorations with photos.

"Buying something from a store is very easy. But creating something is priceless. Especially for the people you love, it's the best gift you can give. "

A 3D printer makes a decoration to hang on the tree while Brice launched the printing of a Labyrinth box, a small cylindrical puzzle more fun than an envelope to offer a ticket or a place for a show.
