This word is heritage,” the institute’s official page on the VKontakte social network says.

The institute noted that in the current difficult time, it seems important to rethink the historical past in order to understand the path that should be followed.

Last year, the Pushkin Institute named "Sputnik" the word of the year in Russia.

The Oxford English Dictionary has previously chosen the slang term “goblin mode” as its word of the year 2022 through a public vote.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, "goblin mode" refers to behavior that is based on following one's own desires, "laziness, slovenliness and greed."
